Sundays = The Long Run

March 2, 2008

Today was one of those days I just couldn’t get out of the house. Usually everything goes rather smoothly, but today, well, couldn’t find my knickers, where was my rain gear, and where is my left shoe?? Normally it’s not a problem, but Mr. Fish needed to be out the door by 9:30am (normally he is just forcing himself out of bed by then, but today is an exception). I was up at 6:30, so gave myself enough time to eat, digest, leave an hour later, and do my 11mi/17.8k and be back. I wasn’t back until 9:45, but I think it’s ok.

Having that “must be back by” feeling lurking over me the entire run was a bit of a drag. So was the drizzle and the insane wind, but by about mile 4 I wasn’t thinking about it any more. I *was* cursing myself for not having brought my camera (was worried about the rain) because despite the clouds there was this excellent yellow glow about the forest that was amazing.

I felt great, but tired. The heavy rains we’ve had all week really messed with the trails so they were slow-going. Plus, I took a new trail and it was like running at the beach- all sand. This is great for my fitness level, but damn, it was tough!

I hope I don’t have too much trouble getting my runs in this week. Tomorrow we are going to Toulouse to hang with Mr. Fish’s brother & his family. I am not even close to packed, or ready to teach tomorrow morning (we’ll leave right after), and rather than taking a much-deserved post-run nap, I’m typing on my blog…what is up with that? Guppy will be up in moments, so I’d better get hopping.
